“Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else.” – Les Brown
Thoughts have the power to deeply affect one’s life path, and are vital tools in shaping the reality of one’s experiences. Thoughts are responsible for the development of one’s emotional state, but can gravely affect the body temple and overall well-being; influencing how one responds to relationships and determining life’s choices.
The power of thought also has the ability to create an egoic perception of reality, derived from memories of the past and worry upon the future. Believing your fate lies in another’s hands will lead to the loss of innate power, which is the very power or capability to create.
Choosing to lose this power makes it easier for others to change and manipulate one’s own world into that which others want it to be, instead of transforming it into what you really want it to be. Bear in mind, you and only you have that right and that power to create your world.
Creating or rewriting one’s own reality will never imply as one being fully enlightened. Being a student or having a “beginner’s mind” keeps one open to new beginnings instead of recycling the cobwebs of the past. In the book Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind: Informal Talks on Zen Meditation and Practice, author and Zen monk Shunryu Suzuki explains, “In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s there are few.” Indeed. By continuously learning we become more aware of our reality, thus, having the power to rewrite it.
Here are some ways to rewrite your thoughts and your reality, right now:
1. Make the shift. If there is a need and a must to change your beliefs and attitude concerning your present reality, shift your attention and focus in the direction that you believe can bring you more abundance of joy, peace and prosperity. Accepting negative thoughts and not pushing them away brings a new awareness and reality to light. Doing this does not weaken, but strengthen the soul and can end the maddening cycle of suffering.
2. Believe in a new and positive reality. Do not deny yourself a positive reality you deserve because of what you might fear or doubt as truth. Your ability to re-create and manifest whatever you desire requires wholehearted belief that it be so. Let the past calmly fade away and allow yourself to be in your new reality—being joyfully present.
3. Heal all your negative thoughts. By taking a few moments out of your day to look within you can heal the wounds which ultimately created your negative thoughts. Fear, worry and frustration are just a few of the many emotions that with full acceptance can lead you to a new reality.
Now it’s your turn. Have you rewritten your reality? Please feel free to share your thoughts below.
