How to Inspire Others Through Presence

applauding at meeting

A couple of months ago I was contacted by Christina Lattimer of The e.MILE People Development Directory to be a contributing writer for her e.Mile Magazine. I was eager to write on my topic of choice, “inspiring others” which clearly resonated with me.

My intention was to share some real-life examples of how we can all inspire others through our actions. As I approached my halfway mark with the article however, I realized that taking action was just a part of how we can inspire the world.

In “How to Inspire Others Through Presence” I describe how the simple act of compassionate listening can transform another into a place of peace, while inspiring them to follow their own dreams and aspirations.

The great Zen teacher Thich Nhat Hanh said, “You listen with only one purpose: to help him or her to empty his heart.” When we are eager to tend to the problems of another we forget how to truly listen to the challenge at hand.

Compassionate listening is to wholeheartedly give your attention to another, without judgment. Being present in this way can inspire others to do the same.

e.Mile’s May edition features other articles and advice from a range of experts and authors from around the globe.
