Latino Alliance: “Champions of Character”

Latino AllianceA few months ago I was approached to do an interview with Latino Alliance for their “Champions of Character” piece. At first I was hesitant, for I speak minimal Spanish and because I grew up in a Filipino household I didn’t think my Latin roots were strong enough to be part of their online presence.

After meditating on it a bit I immediately thought of my father – an immigrant from Honduras who came to the US at 18 years old and with hard work became a graduate of New York University. Although my teenage and young adult years were not spent with him or his Hispanic culture, his passion for life has always been instilled in me.

In reading the stories of the others named “Champions of Character” and the ones I shared in my co-authored book, “Pursuing Your Destiny,” I began to realize the importance of how our life experiences can always have a way of inspiring others.

Today, I have been blessed by being named one of Latino Alliance’s “Champions of Character”. It is truly an honor to be part of an organization that represents achievement, leadership and success. You can read the story here..
